Battlesphere and Its Origin Story

A Legend Begins…

“Look! It’s moving. It’s alive. It’s alive… It’s alive, it’s moving, it’s alive, it’s alive, it’s alive, it’s alive, IT’S ALIVE!”

-Dr. Henry Frankenstein

Like Dr. Frankenstein’s famous monster, Battlesphere was designed by stitching together elements of many different games, fusing them all together to create a completely different and unique gaming experience!

In fact, the game wasn’t even called Battlesphere at first! It was originally put together by taking a collection of old Digimon cards and creating a new rule set for the game. This homemade version of Digimon was treated as just a hobby for awhile and it was pretty cool.

But eventually as the game continued to grow and evolve, it began to take on a life of it’s own. At this point it became clear that the game needed it’s own identity, so the magical planet of Rae ‘Ona was created and Battlesphere was born!

The Home of Battlesphere

Tripp: A rookie recruiter and our story’s hero!

Welcome to Rae ‘Ona, a beautiful world much like our own, and home to the legendary Battlesphere tournaments!

On Rae ‘Ona, humanity enjoys a life of peace and development thanks to the Rae ‘Onian Allegiance, a world government established in the wake of the devastating War of the Fallen.

The RA is a democratic government, with a senate of representatives from each region that are responsible for the creation of laws and policies. To prevent war and regional violence, the RA established the Battlesphere tournaments, a series of competitions used to determine seating in the senate and settle regional disputes. During yearly electoral tournaments, each region chooses a recruiter to compete for seats in the senate. Recruiters that win Battlesphere earn more seats for their region, giving them greater voting power. The tournaments themselves are governed by the Grand Council; a group of five elder mages. Electorals are held on the Island, a manmade landmass created specifically for the tournaments. The island itself is the size of a large city, with several different environments simulated on it, such as forests, deserts, lakes, and jungles. At the center of the Island is a massive arena where the final round of the tournament takes place. At the start of each tournament, a magical force field is fabricated around the island, levitating it high above the water and establishing the tournament’s boundaries.

Battlesphere tournaments are highly publicized and regarded as the greatest sport on Rae ‘Ona. Fans all around the world cheer for their favorite recruiters and champions, and once every four years the creation of the sport is celebrated in the form of the Battlesphere Championship, a tournament where competitors can attain two different titles; recruiters can becomes sages, and champions can become legends, earning them eternal glory!
